How to put both sides of an ID card in one PDF
- Take one photo of the front and another of the back of your ID card, or choose the ones you already have. iPhone HEIC photos work too.
- Upload them in their slots: Front and Back.
- Choose the output: one A4 sheet with both sides, two A4 sheets, or a JPG image.
- If you're asked for a maximum size, choose it (200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB…).
- Click Create the ID card document, check the result and download it.
It works with any card that has two sides: a national ID card, a residence permit, a driving licence or a health card. In Spain, for example, it's what you need for the DNI or the NIE/TIE card.
What's next?
One sheet, two sheets or a JPG image?
- One A4 sheet: front on top and back below, like a photocopy of both sides. It's the usual choice when a copy of both sides is requested.
- Two A4 sheets: one side per page, in the same PDF. Handy if you want each side to appear larger.
- JPG image: both sides in a single image, for forms that only accept images and not PDFs.
Each organisation decides how it wants a copy of your ID. If they ask for each side in a separate file, use JPG to PDF with each photo on its own.
Private by design
Most online tools upload your files to their servers. Not here: everything is processed in your own browser and nothing is ever sent anywhere. That's why you can safely use it with your ID, passport, payslips, medical reports or contracts.
If you're asked for a maximum size
Choose the limit and the tool tries, step by step, lowering the image size and JPG quality until the result fits. It tells you whether it fits. If it can't, the ID would become unreadable: raise the limit a little or do one side per file.
For a PDF you already have, use Compress PDF.
Tips for a photo that's easy to read
- Place the card on a flat, dark surface so the edges stand out.
- Use natural light and avoid the flash: the plastic causes glare that hides the details.
- Take the photo straight from above and get close so the card fills most of the picture.
- Before sending it, open the result and check you can read the number, the expiry date and the signature.
Your ID never leaves your device: the photos are processed in your browser. To learn how to send it afterwards, read the guide on how to send your ID card front and back.
