How to convert a PDF to PNG
- Drop your PDF into the box above or click to choose it.
- Check the format is PNG and pick a resolution.
- If you don't want every page, click Choose pages and type, for example,
1-3, 5. - Click Convert and download each image or all of them at once.
When is PNG better than JPG?
PNG compresses without losing information. Text, tables, drawings and signatures keep clean edges, without the smudges JPG leaves around letters.
The trade-off is size: a page of text in PNG is usually larger than in JPG, and a page with photos can be several times larger. If the form you're uploading to has a size limit, try JPG first.
Private by design
Most online tools upload your files to their servers. Not here: everything is processed in your own browser and nothing is ever sent anywhere. That's why you can safely use it with your ID, passport, payslips, medical reports or contracts.
Which resolution to choose
The resolution decides how many pixels each image has:
- 72 dpi: an A4 or Letter page comes out at about 600 × 800 pixels. Enough to read on a phone, and the lightest option.
- 150 dpi: about 1240 × 1754 pixels for A4. Everything is readable, including small print. This is the default.
- 300 dpi: about 2480 × 3508 pixels for A4. Print quality, but each image is much larger.
Pages are rendered on a white background, not a transparent one.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed inside your browser. Your files never leave your device.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no usage limits.
Will the PNG have a transparent background?
No. Pages are drawn on a white background, just as they look in a PDF reader.
Why is my PNG so large?
PNG doesn't lose quality, so it takes more space, especially with photos. Drop to 150 or 72 dpi, or use JPG if you need a small file.
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes. Click Choose pages and type page numbers or ranges separated by commas, for example 1-3, 5. You can also write 4- to go from page 4 to the end.
Why don't they download as a single file?
The images download one by one, not zipped, so you can open them straight away on your phone. Your browser may ask permission to download multiple files.
Does it work with a password-protected PDF?
No. Open the PDF with its password, save it without protection and try again.
