Reduce a PDF for the e-office

The e-office won't take your PDF? Here's the official General Electronic Registry limit and how to fit your file, without uploading it to any server.

1 · Document

2 · Maximum size

1 MB = 1,024 KB. If the form doesn't say, leave a little room under the limit.

3 · Result

  1. Lossless first

We rebuild the PDF's internal structure. If that's enough, the text stays selectable.

  2. If not, exact size

We turn each page into an image and find the highest resolution and quality that fit your limit.

  3. Download and done

You see the final size against the limit and a preview before saving.

Everything runs in your browser. Your document is never uploaded to any server.

What the General Electronic Registry says

According to the General Access Point (in Spanish), you can attach up to 5 documents, each up to 10 MB and 15 MB in total. Checked on 23 October 2026.

A specific procedure on an e-office may have its own limit: look at the one the form shows. The guide to file size limits on Spanish e-offices lists other bodies, each with its source.

What's next?

What to do depending on what happens

  • One file is over 10 MB: compress it here; this page already opens the tool at 10 MB.
  • The files add up to more than 15 MB: compress each to a smaller size (for example 3 MB if there are five).
  • You have more than 5 documents: put them into fewer files with Merge PDF, keeping within the size limit.
  • It won't go under the limit without becoming unreadable: split it by size and check whether the procedure accepts several files.

Private by design

Most online tools upload your files to their servers. Not here: everything is processed in your own browser and nothing is ever sent anywhere. That's why you can safely use it with your ID, passport, payslips, medical reports or contracts.

Why a scanned PDF is so heavy

Almost always because each page is a high-resolution colour photo, like those many phone apps save. If you rescan in greyscale at about 150 dpi, the file weighs far less and reads just as well. If you can't rescan, compressing it here lowers the resolution until it fits and warns you if the text might not read well.
