How to compress a PDF to 10 MB
- Drop your PDF into the box above or click to choose it.
- Check the maximum size is set to 10 MB (it's already filled in).
- Click Compress and wait a few seconds.
- Check the preview and click Download PDF.
Where is a PDF under 10 MB required?
A 10 MB limit is common on:
- Email attachments that would otherwise bounce.
- Moodle, Google Classroom and other learning platforms.
- Online registries that accept complete case files.
- Sending presentations and reports through messaging apps.
With this much room, lossless compression is usually enough and the text stays selectable. If not, a high resolution of around 150 dpi is used.
Private by design
Most online tools upload your files to their servers. Not here: everything is processed in your own browser and nothing is ever sent anywhere. That's why you can safely use it with your ID, passport, payslips, medical reports or contracts.
Tip
If the PDF is heavy because of embedded photos, compressing it here usually cuts it by more than half without any visible difference.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed inside your browser. Your files never leave your device.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no usage limits.
How do I get my PDF under 10 MB?
Choose the file, keep 10 MB as the maximum size and click Compress. Lossless compression is tried first; if that's not enough, the best resolution and quality that fit are found.
Will the text still be selectable?
If lossless compression is enough, yes. If the file has to shrink further, pages are turned into images and the text is no longer selectable, although it reads exactly the same.
What if it can't reach the size?
It means the document would become unreadable at that size. Split the PDF into several parts or check whether the form accepts more than one file.
Is 1 MB 1,000 or 1,024 KB?
Here 1 MB = 1,024 KB. Some portals count 1,000. If you're close to the limit, pick a slightly smaller one to be safe.
