What is WEBP and why convert it to JPG?
WEBP is a format designed for the web: it's small and supports transparency. That's why many images you save from your browser end up as .webp, even though some programs and forms won't accept them.
JPG is the most compatible format for photos: every phone, computer and website opens it. It uses lossy compression, so files are small, but it doesn't support transparency.
Private by design
Most online tools upload your files to their servers. Not here: everything is processed in your own browser and nothing is ever sent anywhere. That's why you can safely use it with your ID, passport, payslips, medical reports or contracts.
When JPG is the right choice
- Forms and portals that only accept JPG or PDF.
- Attaching photos to an email without making it too heavy.
- Opening the image in any program or device.
When converting to JPG, transparent areas are filled with white, because JPG has no transparency. A quality of 85 to 90 % usually looks the same as the original and is much smaller.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed inside your browser. Your files never leave your device.
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no usage limits.
Why are images I save from the web WEBP?
Many websites serve their images as WEBP because they're smaller. When you save them, the browser keeps that format.
Is transparency kept?
In PNG and WEBP, yes. JPG has no transparency, so those areas are filled with white.
Why does my iPhone take photos in HEIC?
Because the camera is set to High Efficiency, which saves space. You can change it in Settings › Camera › Formats › Most Compatible so it saves JPG instead.
Is the photo's location data kept?
No. Only the image is saved, without EXIF metadata such as location or phone model. The orientation is applied to the image so it doesn't come out rotated.
